What is a Bridge League?
A bridge league is a series of events in which players compete as individuals and as a team. You join the league as an individual and get assigned to one of multiple teams. During league events/dates, the teams field pairs and compete for special league points based on how these pairs fared against the other league pairs.

We will hold 1 or 2 league events each week between September and Early December, All you need to do is play at least 6 times to qualify, But the more you play the better it will be for your team. At the end of 3 months we will throw a party and announce individual and team winners. All your results will count towards your team score but only your best 6 results, will count for your individual score.

League events will include: Imp Pairs, Swiss Teams, Open Pairs and even a few limited events to maximize the value of the C pairs.

How are the League points calculated?
You start with 6 points just for playing in a league event and earn 2 points for every league pair you beat and 1 point for every pair you tie, in each event. In order to encourage play within different Strata, The lower flights will have a bonus factor associated with them. A flight “A” player will carry a bonus of 1, Flight “B” a bonus of 1.5 and Flight “C” a bonus of 3.

How do the bonuses work?
Let’s assume you have a pair of “A” players and they beat 10 other league pairs. Their scores will be 5+10 (15) for each player. On the other hand a flight “A” player and a Flight “C” player who accomplish the same thing will get 5+10 (15) for the flight C player but (5+10)*3 (45) for the flight A player. This player bonus should entice the top players to play with players from the other flights.

How are the flights determined?
Pure math, the top 3rd will be flight A, the next 3rd flight B the bottom 3rd will be Flight C.

Why play in the league?
For the FUN! The league is simply the best way to meet some of the other players in the club. If you are looking for a partner or simply want to play with some of the better players in the club, there simply is nothing like it. League fees and a participation bonus will be returned as prizes.
